Vpn Not Working On Macbook Pro

Probably the routes on the mac that are not set . if you open a terminal and type in netstat -r, you should see if there is a route to your internal network through the vpn connection. If not, you need to set it. Could be that the vpn client isn’t configured correctly or is unable to set the route.

I connect to my work server, from home, through a vpn client called NetExtender, published by SonicWall (Dell). Worked like a charm on my Macbook Pro until I changed my router from an old airport extreme to a Netgear R7000. Now it does not work. It shows a connection, but no information is being exchanged (sent and received bytes stays the same).

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Network. Choose Set Service Order from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear). Drag your VPN connection to the top of the list. Click OK, and then click Apply to make the new settings active.

@nohillside Not 100% sure, but while Apple mentions Safari in the linked document, it also says that if a service or network doesn’t work, it should be tried to switch off Private Relay. It’s been reported that VPN failures are connected to Private Relay and that disabling it helped.

VPN on the phone seem to be working, I am unsure how the VPN client is interpreting traffic through the personal hotspot, but its certainly not letting the personal hotspot traffic use the VPN tunnel… but this may be normal. It is probably not trivial to know if this is normal, or further indications of a problem with the macbook pro OS.

Hero8 Black works great as a webcam until I connect to my company’s VPN. macOS Catalina 10.15.6. MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2019. Cisco AnyConnect 4.8.01090. My company needs to route all private IPV4 IPs internally. I assumed “USB Webcam” meant the video signal was carried over the USB cable like a “normal” USB webcam. This is a non-starter for me.
