Mac Cannot Connect To L2tp Vpn

Connect via L2TP/IPsec to VPN on MAC OS X
– Open System Preferences from your menu bar
– Click on Network Settings
– On the left pane, click on the plus + icon to add a new connection
– In the drop down box, for Interface choose VPN
– For VPN Type choose L2TP over IPSec
– For Service Name enter a descriptive name ie HomeVPN or WorkVPN

i have the same problem as well. After update my system my l2tp connection broken. I have my own vpn server. Im using softether vpn on ubuntu. I can.


I checked my Airport Extreme and noticed that my Apple ID was entered in the Back to My Mac section of the Base Station. I deleted that, rebooted the router, and tried to connect to the L2TP VPN server. This time it worked. For some baffling reason, Apple has decided that Back to My Mac should use the same ports as L2TP VPN servers.

I Found halo/macosvpn for mac os vpn connection but it is command line tool i would like to make it in my application.


I then went to my Mac and created a new VPN connection with . L2TP. server address (which is pingable and I can resolve the name) user account and password. key. and “send all traffic over vpn” selected. When I try to connect, I get the message “L2TP server did not respond”. I don’t see anything in the Meraki dashboard logs.


Cannot connect using internal MacOS High Sierra

I setup the Softether VPN Server on a Windows 10 Pro PC at one site and i can connect via my Windows 10 Home PC from my home. But on the same home network I cannot using my Macbook Pro running macOS High Sierra ver 10.13.4 I have tried the internal masOS client, Shimo client, NCP Secure Entry client without success.


PCs running Windows and Mac OS X can connect to the server without problem. When I tried to connect by using android or iOS mobiles and tablets, they cannot connect to the server. If I change the VPN type to PPTP, the mobile devices can connect successfully but I would like to use IPSec/L2TP since it’s more secure.
